PostSubject: GsW Hi-Fi Club. Building a Audiophile Community   Thu Nov 25, 2010 11:25 am

(To Mod and Admin: Don't know if this the appropriate thread for Headfiers but you can move this thread to other area you desire. ty)

Hi Im Layanichi.

Just Introducing my new found hobby. Audiophile.

What is Audiophile?

"a person who is especially interested in high-fidelity sound reproduction."

Introductory

Ive been PC enthusiast for 6years i think, My 1st Modding/PC days were something around 2004. yes the AMD athlon XP Era. FarCry1 and Unreal Tournament were the games for benchmarks. funny how time slips pass us by. Today PC Enthusiast grows rapidly on local communities due to influence and technologies.

What I'm pointing out is that im getting tired of coping up with the newest technology. and the deprecation is so darn painful. So I was looking for a new hobby and then I remembered a friend of mine from Cebu (Named Emoners). Who invited me last 2009 to join this Audiophile trend. by time I was still on PC trend head. so I didn't mind him. By the time I was able to hook up with him again i was so darn amaze the collection of Headphone he have/had. Really his Journey to Audiophile has gone many miles. So he hooked me up the best starters choice of Audiophile-Grade headphones. So I got my 1st Audiophile-Grade Headphones, The Sennheiser HD555. Cost around 7k-6k at that time. I always find Sennheiser Products are so cool and kickass. this is very common product to newbies. So I got mine all way from US. with the help of my brother from US. and I love them. They are really something coming from a Sennheiser HD215 user. this is really at a different level.

So I went on reading more about audiophiles, community and forums. Found out that this trend is really something to be enjoyed and satisfying. I do love music alot. and Headphones don't deprecate fast, some might even go higher. due to demand and rareness. So thats really a good sign. I have lot of audiophile friends. so its not really hard for me to find Audiophile-grade Headphones. but some headphones are still rare and hard to find.

Wonder what it looks like community of headfiers do every weekends? They have something like a Lanparty too. but they call it meet up's auditions. Where they bring their gears and meet up on coffee shops or places with sealed environments. Places that have less noise pollutions to better test and hear the hifi experience. This is how they grow their community.ehehe Im trying to form 1 here in Davao. Even in starters gears. its fun to hear it. Some of DcW is now on Audiophile. i think we are around 10 members. so thats a start.ehehe

Sample of meet ups Auditions.

So thats it for now. if you do have questions just post here. i'll be glad to answer them as much as possible i can. I know agatong had already audition my gears. and he is interested.ehehe Poisoned Success!lols

FYI: Emoners a is a PC enthusiast just like me. I added some link to his rig.

if you guys could get hold of this encore enma at CDR king. Grab your chance.

ENCORE ENMA is a US brand company. Dont be fooled by its CDR king Badge.

CDR king is the only company that supplies Encore Enma I think.

Encore Enma DAC have its unique Sonic Signatures. Specially the Soundstage and Coloration of the sound. very smooth. works well with Desktop Speakers too.

To Head Fi Club they call this " The Poor Man's DAC". Due to its Bang for the buck Price. for 1080.00 pesos you get a DAC? very good Deal!

The moment I herd CDR-king Stock this encore enma DAC again. I rush to get 1.haha because they only stock 2 to 3pcs. My headfier friends in manila always run out of this DAC.

I recommend this encore enma. for starters ang budget wise upgrade.

encore enma is kick ass!

This is Encore Enma. Just ask for the CDR king tenants. 7.1 USB SoundCard. Check for Encore Products.

The Box alone has the image of the DAC. (Digital to Analog Converter = DAC)

Tips and Tricks.

Sharing Software Player for FLAC file.

What is FLAC?

FLAC - stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player (or your car or home stereo, see supported devices) just like you would an MP3 file.

FYI: Mp3 only have 300 kbps sample rate. while FLAC goes around 800 to 2000 kbps. this how full detail you get for FLAC.

FLAC is the FULL-HD version for Movies. FLAC for HD Music. 1 song runs up to 25mb minimum. yeah its quite a load for storage. I have worth 200GB of FLAC's. I would gladly share it to my GsW brothers. I have classics, alternatives, jazz, pop, rnb. etc.

FLAC Software Player.

I recommend to use Foobar player. pls dont use winamp. winamp is not really perfect for FLAC files. Their Codec seems to be same as Mp3. some of the details goes sharp. not very natural sounding.

Just Try this Foobar Software. One of the best Flac Software Player as of the moment. Just set your EQ flat or default and let the FLAC file do their thing.

Very Recommended!
